Caffeine is a white crystal purine that is bitter. It can be found in nuts, seeds and leaves. The most popular source of caffeine is the coffee bean. Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant. Some say that it is the world’s most popular psychoactive drug. This drug is sold all over the world. A lot of people use caffeine to stay up,  and to avoid drowsiness. Also, its used in certain products to improve performance. You often find caffeine in sodas, tea and coffee.

However, it is important for people to understand that caffeine is a drug. To much caffeiene can cause problems. If you take to much caffeine you can have trouble sleeping and staying asleep. Also, it can cause you to get dizzy and have headaches. Some people get very jittery and shakey when they consume to much caffeine. It even cause some people heart to beat faster and abnormal heart rythms. Caffeine can also lead to dehydration. Because it is a drug, you may experience withdrawal symptoms when you stop using caffeine. A lot of people become dependent on caffeine the more they consume the more they want.

For most people, the amount of caffeine in two to four cups of coffee a day is not harmful. However, too much caffeine can cause problems. If  a person is pregnant or taking medication, they should consult their doctor before using products that have caffeine.
